• Ascorbate Oxidase is a copper-containing enzyme. It catalyzes the following reaction: Ascorbic acid + O2 Dehydroascorbic acid + H2O. Ascorbate Oxidase is widely distributed and is only present in plants. Its biological role in plants is still not clear. Studies after increasing and reducing the enzyme activity suggest that it has a positive effect on plant growth. In addition, it has been proposed that the enzyme may be involved in plant defense by modifying the ascorbate level and thus redox state in apoplast.
