The intensity of the colored product is in direct proportion to the FK levels in the sample and is measured at 450 nm through a microplate reader. Fractalkine, also called CX3CL1, exerts its biological activities by binding to its receptor CX3CR1. The CX3CL1-CX3CR1 axis mediates the adhesion of leukocytes and is involved in cell survival and recruitment of immune cell subpopulations. On homeostasis, the CX3CL1-CX3CR1 signaling participates in the removal of damaged neurons and neurogenesis.
