  • Description:
  • The product CSB-EL008598HU is a sandwich ELISA kit developed to measure levels of human Fetuin-B (FETUB) in multiple samples, including serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. This assay uses the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to quantify the analyte in the sample. The color develops positively to the amount of FETUB in samples. The color intensity is measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader. FETUB is a highly selective and potent inhibitor of metallopeptidases (MPs) of the astacin family. It is a liver-derived plasma protein with serum concentrations of about 0.01 g/l in humans. FETUB plays an essential role in female fertility. By blocking ovastacin, fetuin-B counteracts premature zona pellucida (ZP) hardening before fertilization and therefore maintains female fertility by keeping the ZP penetrable to sperm. Studies have found that FETUB is elevated in type 2 diabetes patients and FETUB knockdown improves glucose metabolism in obese mice. FETUB is also an inhibitor of basic calcium phosphate, blocking unwanted calcification.
